FAQ

This section aims to provide some context of the project from the research and spatial planning phase of my design process

Design Statement

The purpose of my project is to drive innovation and new ways of thinking not only when designing and collaborating, but also in educational, cultural and social circumstances. This is specifically achieved through an inclusions of multiple multi-senory experiences that are specifically designed to allow people to experiment and/or explore in a collaborative environment. Thus it is a crucial role for my forms to engage the community to connect and collaborate in new and interesting ways with in their built environment.

Additionally, my project also mains for the users to be able to connect with the sites history and heritage items from  the large scale forms down to the details to create spaces that harmoniously respect the past, but encourage innovate forward-thinking.  It is the ability to design inclusive, accessible and provocative experiences that I want my project to become a precedent of to future designers.

The concept of my overall design language

When researching the sites historical timeline, I found this site had a rich past that told a story of the lands original ownership, to its destruction, to then its abandonment. From this, I found an opportunity bring a level of appreciation to the natural land into my physical forms through featuring design language that is inspired by typography lines. By doing this, it creates an opportunity for organic and natural shapes to fill the harsh rectangular forms of the original building

I have created a stacked form where each curved edge is slightly different each layer. It is only when all the layers are read together in a stack which is when the overall 3d organic form is represented, similar to a typography map - one line on the map does not tell a story, but when the map is filled with all the typography lines, it creates a narrative of the land and its forms..
